Commissioning Art from your local Artist.

Hey there! Tesoro Carolina here, wanting to talk about a special subject. I’m a local artist who recently has been commissioned to make some special things and today I wanted to talk a little about commissioning art from your local artist!

As we roll into the holidays we find ourselves in that time of year where we look into gathering some special items for our loved ones. If you are like me, you’re looking for any reason to shop local and support your community. What better way to do so than to hire a local artist.

Think of it this way, you can commission something special for your special someone, something unique and made just for them. At the same time, you would be helping an artist improve their skills as well as support them financially. How? you ask...

Easy! check out these simple steps to commissioning artwork from your favorite local artist!

- Step 1: Don’t be afraid to reach out! Check out your favorite social platforms like Instagram or Facebook and reach out to the artist in your community. Don’t know an artist you can reach out to? No problem, connecting with people is easier now than it’s ever been. Try the following, on Instagram search for the artist via hashtag. For example, if you're a Miami local you can check out #miamiart , or #miamiartist there you can see top post or recent post from these tagged images. Scroll through and find someone you are into and send them a message.

- Step 2: Talk about what you are looking for!

Once you've gotten a hold of an artist talk about what you are looking for, how much you are looking to spend and send them a reference. The reference could be a photograph of the subject, or a style of art you like or an example of what you are looking for.

- Step 3: Give the Artist's Time.

Sometimes it's hard to contain the excitement of receiving some fresh artwork. Who can blame ya? but in this case, make sure to be patient with the artist. In order to insure that you will get the work promised, consider leaving a deposit prior to the artist getting started.

- Step 4: Make sure to share!

Once you have placed your order, let your friends know about the awesome artist you are working with. Share posts, like their work and remember a share is worth a thousand words. You never know, you may help a friend or family member in need of a good artist.

-Step 5: Enjoy!

There is no greater feeling in the world to have something made just for you!

Take lots of pictures and make sure to frame and hang it somewhere nice.

Remember Art belongs displayed so show it off in a nice place.

That's all the advice I have for you today.
